Fire Alarm Designer – Asset Intelligence Location - Warrington (Headquarters) Hybrid working model and Site travel Site Locations:
Scunthorpe, Grimsby, Boston, Lincoln.
We are looking for someone who is happy to travel across these areas with hybrid working. What you will be doing:
An opportunity has arisen for a Fire Alarm Designer to join the team Asset Intelligence at Galliford Try.
This role offers the opportunity to work on some of the UK’s most prestigious frameworks, with a focus on driving project success through effective commercial governance.
Key Responsibilities:
Design & Technical Delivery Develop fire alarm and detection system designs based on client requirements and site surveys
Produce detailed design documentation including:
Detector layouts, PA/VA systems, and zone drawings
Cause & effect, loop schematics, panel layouts
Fire strategies and calculations
Ensure designs comply with relevant standards (e.g. BS5839, BS6266, BS7671, BS7273)
Value engineer solutions to balance cost-effectiveness with compliance and performance
Provide technical input into subcontract design packages and supplier orders
Project & Stakeholder Management Lead or support site visits, surveys, and 3D model reviews
Act as a point of contact for subcontract designers
Review subcontractor designs, pricing, and specifications for accuracy and quality
Collaborate closely with internal teams to support tender submissions and project delivery
Manage design changes and ensure adherence to scope and change control processes
Quality & Compliance Ensure all design processes and procedures are followed
Contribute to design management plans and design programmes
Support fire accreditation documentation
Assist with smooth handover to construction and commissioning teams
About You:
Proven experience in fire systems design, including detection, PA/VA, suppression, and fire stopping
Strong knowledge of system integration and fire equipment
Familiarity with BIM / PAS 1192 and navigating 3D models
Experience producing technical documentation (URS/FDS)
Knowledge of CDM regulations and temporary works
Proficiency in AutoCAD, Bluebeam, and Microsoft OfficeONC / HNC / Degree or NVQ equivalent in a relevant discipline
Organised, proactive, and detail-oriented
Strong communication and stakeholder management skills
Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment
