Ultrasound Technologist - PRN
Med Star Health is seeking a PRN Ultrasound Technologist to join the team at Med Star Montgomery Medical Center.
This skilled technical position coordinates the delivery of healthcare services using ultrasound to assist in diagnosis or treatment. Work is performed under the general direction of the Lead Technologist or the Manager of Medical Imaging.
Responsibilities- Operates and documents all aspects of ultrasound, verifies procedure appropriateness and patient consent, prepares patients, ensures aseptic technique, positions and immobilizes patients, selects and operates imaging equipment, monitors patients, evaluates image quality, initiates basic life support when necessary, checks and orders supplies, participates in quality assessment and improvement, reports equipment problems, assists in training, provides input on equipment purchase, inventory control, patient education, and maintains universal precautions.
- Maintains a clean, safe, prepared work environment; prepares room, cleans and sterilizes equipment, restocks supplies, and takes action in emergencies.
- Maintains current knowledge, certification, and licensure; identifies learning needs, attends continuing education and hospital-sponsored trainings, and completes mandatory requirements within allotted time.
- Works effectively within and between departments; participates on inter-departmental teams and committees, communicates unit knowledge, and demonstrates a constructive approach in all interactions.
- Follows all protocols to ensure optimum image quality; transports patients to and from ultrasound procedures, assists with interventional procedures, and assists front desk with paperwork and scheduling.
- Completion of an accredited program for Ultrasound Sonographers.
- Registered Diagnostic Medical Sonographer (RDMS).
- CPR certification.
- Experience in a hospital setting preferred.
USD $34.98 - $62.52 per hour.
