Apply for the Washington Water Business Development Manager position is a leading design and consulting firm that partners with communities to deliver safe drinking water, treat wastewater responsibly, and develop sustainable water supplies across Washington State.
Responsibilities- Develop and implement an annual growth strategy in partnership with program and operations leaders to achieve financial goals.
- Analyze and qualify potential clients that align with professional and financial value to the firm.
- Monitor new market trends and participate in the development of local and regional strategic and tactical planning.
- Build relationships with key decision makers of targeted clients and leverage contacts to secure new business.
- Collaborate with market sector leaders, client managers, senior consultants, and project teams to pursue new opportunities.
- Represent HDR at industry conferences, seminars, professional associations, and water‑focused organizations to promote the firm and generate contacts.
- Maintain and nurture client relationships, and for key accounts serve as Project Principal or Project Manager.
- Identify and develop potential projects; collaborate with national and local resources to craft winning proposals and interviews that lead to shortlisting and selection.
- Manage and mentor marketing services staff, overseeing workloads, performance, and other managerial duties.
- Work with marketing staff to prepare collateral materials—qualifications, proposals, interview presentations, brochures, and other promotional assets.
- Implement company marketing policies and procedures consistently across the business group.
- Minimum of 10 years of relevant industry experience.
- Self‑starter who can complete projects with limited oversight.
- Deep knowledge of the A/E/C industry’s standard procurement approach for professional services.
- Strong ability to motivate and inspire others.
- Proven track record building a network of clients and industry partners.
- Experience in sales and developing effective win strategies.
- Strong financial acumen and negotiation skills.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications (Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint).
- Willingness and ability to travel and engage with clients face‑to‑face.
- Experience writing compelling content based on technical information.

Location and CompensationPrimary location:
United States—Washington—Bellevue. Other locations include Tacoma, Everett, Spokane, Olympia, and Seattle. Compensation range: $127,660 - $198,960, depending on skills, experience, education, and geographic location (full‑time, regular position). Temporary and part‑time roles may have limited benefits.
