* emphasizing safe use of tools, machinery and equipment while providing training on safety gear, helmets and procedures    developing and managing project budgets and quality standards for all sites

** supervises and coordinates the work of a paving crew. Their main concern is ensuring that employees under their management do their jobs skillfully and efficiently while making sure assigned work is progressing in a timely manner.

* ** high school diploma, ged or equivalent years of experience
** work experience
*** asphalt paving experience required
** knowledge, skills and abilities
*** customer-service skills to communicate with inspectors and administration to develop a positive working relationship.
* decision-making skills for selecting personnel and subcontractors for specific tasks and jobs to meet deadlines and budgets.
* leadership skills for effectively delegating tasks to workers.

* speaking skills for providing clear orders, explaining complex information to clients and construction workers and discussing technical details
* time-management skills to meet deadlines and ensuring construction phases are completed on time so that the next phase can start.physically, working foremen must be able to:
· work easily and skillfully with hands
· climb and maintain balance on ladders and scaffolds
· see well (naturally or with correction) and distinguish colors
· reach for, handle, and grasp wires and hand tools
· bend, crouch, and work in small places
· lift and carry objects weighing up to 50 pounds.
