Electrical SupervisorElectrical Engineer
Olympia, Washington
Position OverviewThe Electrical Supervisor works closely with all aspects of the manufacturing process from raw material to finished product and supports daily production activities. This supervisory position includes the daily supervision of plant electricians as well as management of plant construction, modifications, appropriations, and equipment installation.
Duties and Responsibilities- Apply electrical theory and knowledge to test and modify developmental or operational electrical machinery, control equipment and circuitry in an industrial plant setting.
- Oversee assembly and testing of experimental motor control devices, switch panels, transformers, generator windings, and other electrical equipment and components according to engineering data and electrical principles.
- Diagnose causes of electrical or mechanical malfunction or failure of operational equipment and perform preventative and corrective action.
- Develop diagrams, drawings and specifications for modifications or expansions and direct personnel performing routine installation and maintenance duties.
- Plan, direct and record periodic testing; recommend or initiate modification or replacement of equipment as needed.
- Direct, coordinate, develop, train, coach and assess employees.
- Support and encourage employees to work safely, efficiently and effectively.
- Perform other job‑related duties as required or assigned.
- Bachelor’s level in Engineering or equivalent discipline; two or more related co‑op or internship work assignments in a manufacturing setting can serve as an alternative to 5–7 years of work experience.
- Three to five years of experience in a high‑speed manufacturing environment.
- At least two years of proven supervisory experience.
- Working knowledge of motor controls, VFDs, and DC drives.
- Installation, set‑up and programming of PLCs.
- Ability to design, modify and plot using AutoCAD software.
- Process control systems – set‑up and program applications (Honeywell).
- Instrumentation and calibration knowledge.
- Facility power distribution knowledge.
- Knowledge of building facilities (compressed air, water, hydraulics, vacuums, heating and cooling).
- Knowledge of control systems and subsystems.
- Must be available to work various shifts, nights, weekends, and overtime as needed.
- Approximately 5% overnight travel.
- Strong problem‑solving skills and ability to work independently or as a team.
- Effective leadership skills such as conflict resolution, communication, decision making, and employee relations.
- Excellent time management, project management, oral and written communication skills.
- Strong computer skills and knowledge of Microsoft programs (Excel, Word, Access, etc.).
- Strong commitment to safety, quality, positive attitude, willingness to learn, mechanical aptitude.
- Packaging industry experience.
- Electrical Journeyman’s certification.
- Green or black belt certification in Six Sigma.
