As a Senior Port Electrical Engineer in DEA’s Energy Business Unit, you will lead projects focused on the expansion, modernization, efficiency improvement, and decarbonization of public and private cargo terminal projects in the Pacific Northwest. You will develop and review electrical designs, create cost estimates and schedules, and collaborate with cross‑functional teams to meet client requirements and industry standards.
Key Responsibilities- Lead the development of electrical design drawings, technical reports, and specifications for cargo terminal infrastructure.
- Support or lead proposal development by crafting technical approaches and defining scope and effort for electrical engineering components.
- Partner with multidisciplinary teams to ensure reliable and efficient energy solutions while maintaining compliance with electrical codes and standards.
- Manage project execution with occasional travel; hybrid-friendly location with preference for Puget Sound region offices.
- Bachelor’s degree in electrical engineering from an accredited university.
- 10+ years of electrical design experience in ports or marine facilities.
- Registered Professional Engineer.
- Proficient with NEC, NFPA, NEMA, IEC, NAVFAC, and other maritime facility codes.
- Experience designing for corrosive marine environments with proven mitigation strategies.
- Knowledge of medium‑ and low‑voltage distribution, grounding, lightning protection, lighting systems, and shore power (cold ironing).
- Expertise in design and analysis tools: SKM Power Tools, ETAP, AGi
32, AutoCAD/Micro Station, Bluebeam. - Demonstrated leadership, mentoring, and strong communication skills.
- 15+ years of experience in facilities, aviation, transit, or marine project design.
- Previous work with consulting engineering firms and local public agencies (Port of Seattle, Port of Tacoma, City of Seattle).
- PMP, MBA, or advanced degree;
Master’s in Electrical Engineering preferred.
