GENERAL SUMMARY

NSORNA Nisqually's Sex Offender Registration and Notification Act requires all individuals who have been convicted of a sex offense to register with our Public Safety Department. This is true whether or not you have to register with any other jurisdiction.

ICW/Vulnerable Adults. This position has regular contact with or control over Indian Children and Vulnerable Adults. In compliance with Federal Law, this position will not be filled by an applicant with any felonious offense or any of two or more misdemeanor offenses under Federal, State, or Tribal Law involving crimes of violence; sexual assault, molestation, exploitation, contact, or prostitution; crimes against persons;

or offenses committed against children.

* This position requires a fingerprint check, which is a standard procedure for many jobs, especially those involving children or vulnerable populations.

MEDICALLY ASSISTED TREATMENT FACILITY

The Nisqually Indian Tribe is developing a Medically Assisted Treatment (MAT) facility on Pacific Ave in Olympia, Washington to address the opioid crisis within the Thurston County area. The Nisqually Indian Tribe is passionate about developing a whole person recovery model, keeping all services under one roof so the patient has the best possible chance of recover y. Our goal is to bring healing and wellness to the community, focusing on the entire family by serving tribal and non-tribal patients.

PHYSICIAN

NURSE PRACTITIONER

The Psychiatric Nurse Practitioner is responsible for providing psychotherapy and medical evaluation to a range of clients having mental illness and substance use disorders.

This position ensures confidentiality, security, and accuracy of records, and promotes positive employee, customer, and community relations. Strong written and verbal communication skills are required and outstanding customer service to fellow employees, customers, vendors, etc. is expected. Regular attendance is required, later hours or weekend time may be required, and a neat well-groomed professional appearance is essential at all times.

PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Conduct medication assessments and crisis response to both new and existing clients.
  • Develop individual service plans based on assessment data and provide therapeutic interventions as needed to include providing on‑going medication management services.
  • Provide consultation and health education to NGHC staff, caregivers, and clients as it relates to the treatment and medication needs of the clients.
  • Maintain documentation of services including patient service plans, progress notes, medication informed consent, treatment plan reviews, and all other required information within NGHC, federal, and state compliance standards.
  • Interpret diagnostic or laboratory tests such as ECGs, renal function tests, and medication serum levels.
  • Write prescriptions for psychotropic medications as state and federal regulations allow.
  • Meet regularly with Mental Health and SUDP Counselors to identify and coordinate optimum treatment plans for enrolled clients.
  • Collaborate with consulting Psychiatrists as necessary to establish ongoing care of complex patient scenarios.
  • Develop practice protocols for mental health problems based on review and evaluation of published research.
  • Provide general health counseling services under the supervision of the Medical Director and follow the progress of patients. Make appropriate records of findings during examinations and submit charts to the Medical Doctor for review and signature.
  • Monitor organization‑wide performance improvement activities as a member of the clinic medical team and participate in staff meetings and/or consultations as requested.
  • Ensure security and confidentiality of all program data and operate in accordance with applicable regulations of HIPAA and 42 CFR Part 2.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
  • Licensed Nurse Practitioner (Psychiatric) in good standing with the State of Washington.
  • Five years' experience as a Psychiatric Nurse Practitioner.
  • Experience in substance abuse treatment.
  • Valid Washington State Driver's license with a clean driving record.
  • Successfully pass a pre‑employment drug screen and criminal background check.
  • Ability to work with vulnerable populations, including adults and children.
  • Pass a State and FBI criminal history background check prior to employment.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
  • Several years of experience in substance abuse treatment and primary care settings.
  • Knowledge of the Nisqually Indian Tribe's history, customs, traditions, and cultural sensitivity.
  • Experience working with Federally Recognized Tribes.
SUPERVISION

This position does not supervise others.

COMPETENCIES

Knowledge of the etiology of serious mental illness, developmental, and substance abuse disorders and their treatment by appropriate therapeutic interventions including psychopharmacology, nursing practice, and medical evaluation.
