Position and Salary

The Attorney General’s Office is recruiting for a permanent full‑time Paralegal 3 in the Regional Services Division. This position is located in Vancouver, Washington, and is represented by the Washington Federation of State Employees (WFSE).

Paralegal 3 Salary Range 59: $67,992 – $91,464. The base pay offered will take into account internal equity and may vary depending on the preferred candidate’s job‑related knowledge, skills, and experience.

About the Regional Services Division

The Regional Services Division is made up of seven sections located in communities across Central, Eastern and Western Washington outside the Seattle‑Tacoma‑Olympia corridor. The division provides legal services to a variety of state agencies and institutions of higher education in the counties surrounding each of the seven locations. By sharing information and strategies across the division, the employees in Regional Services are able to provide excellent legal services through the efforts of employees who live in and play an active part in the communities they serve.

Duties

and Essential Functions of a Paralegal 3

This position supports the work of the Regional Services Division by providing expert paralegal support to attorneys representing the Department of Children, Youth, and Families, handling child welfare cases in Clark, Cowlitz, Skamania, Wahkiakum, and Klickitat counties. The role involves drafting petitions to terminate parental rights, guardianship petitions, negotiating settlements, and conducting trial preparation. Additional responsibilities include delegated supervision of three paralegals in the Vancouver RSD office, serving as a member of the management team for the office, and training new paralegals in the practice and procedures of juvenile court.

The position is part of the Vancouver RSD management team and provides feedback and assists with decision‑making for new processes and procedures for the office.

Combination of six years of experience
* through:

  • Paralegal certification
  • Two‑year paralegal degree
  • Paralegal plus (or nine‑month paralegal, post BA) certification

and/or

  • Paraprofessional experience in support of an attorney

OR

  • Two years’ experience as a Paralegal 2
