Program Manager

Location: Remote / Olympia, Washington State

Reports to: Facilities Manager

Position type: Volunteer (part‑time, Monday through Saturday, flexible hours 10am‑2pm PST)

About the Organization

CARE Wellness Center & Services (C.A.R.E.) is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization founded in 2020 in Washington state. C.A.R.E. develops safe, holistic spaces for people of color and allies to retreat and combat the effects of Post‑Traumatic Slave Syndrome (PTSS). Our programs focus on self‑mastery and holistic balance of mind, body, and spirit, drawing on principles from Christianity, Judaism, Buddhism, Hinduism, Taoism, and A Course In Miracles.

We aim to foster inclusion and support rehabilitation of young BIPOC adults after incarceration through research, partnerships, and funding initiatives.

Job Summary

We are looking for a dedicated Program Manager to lead the Programs Department. The Program Manager will oversee the development, implementation, and evaluation of wellness and advocacy programs, cultivate relationships with stakeholders, and support fundraising and partnership efforts.

Role Description

This volunteer position will eventually lead to a full‑time role contingent on funding. The Program Manager will attend meetings, events, and fundraisers with the program director, pursue relationships with local and global community organizations, and manage program operations.

Responsibilities
  • Develop and implement program strategies aligning with the organization’s mission and values.
  • Lead a team of coordinators and volunteers to execute programs effectively.
  • Manage program budgets, ensuring resources are allocated efficiently.
  • Evaluate program effectiveness and make data‑driven decisions to improve outcomes.
  • Foster partnerships with community organizations and stakeholders.
  • Advocate mental health awareness and trauma‑informed care.
  • Organize training and professional development opportunities for staff and volunteers.
Essential Functions
  • Type 35+ WPM and excellent oral, text, and written skills.
  • Prepare documentation and reports for the Programs Team.
  • Organize program data, manage programs, and conduct evaluations.
  • Implement the Program Team’s Operations Manual.
  • Coordinate and lead cross‑functional meetings weekly for status updates.
  • Assist in planning and overseeing significant program events.
  • Collaborate with community partners.
  • Supervise the Program Assistant.
  • Manage updates and edits to the Program Operations Manual.

Work Conditions &

Physical Requirements

The Program Manager works flexible, remote shifts with scheduled time in office and event settings during quarter sessions. Requirements: minimal bending, stooping, sitting, and kneeling; may require long periods of standing and infrequent lifting up to 50 lbs; may require local travel; exposure to animals, plants, perfume/incense, and nuts.

Qualifications
  • Proven experience in program management, preferably in a nonprofit setting.
  • Knowledge of mental health issues, wellness practices, and community advocacy.
  • Strong leadership skills and the ability to inspire and motivate a team.
  • Excellent organizational, communication, and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to analyze data and use insights to drive program improvements.
