You'll take ownership of projects from the initial concept and design phase, through manufacturing, testing and commissioning, working closely with production teams, project managers and customers to deliver innovative engineering solutions.

The Role As an Electrical Design Engineer, you'll play a key role in the design and development of electrical control systems for bespoke equipment. Working within a multidisciplinary engineering team, you'll be responsible for delivering high-quality electrical designs that meet customer specifications while ensuring compliance with relevant industry standards. You'll collaborate with colleagues across engineering, production and service departments, as well as working directly with customers to understand project requirements, resolve technical challenges and support projects through to successful completion.

Key Responsibilities As the successful candidate, your responsibilities will include:
Designing electrical control systems and circuits for bespoke engineering projects. Producing electrical schematics, wiring diagrams, panel layouts and supporting engineering documentation. Creating and maintaining Bills of Materials (BOMs) and engineering records. Carrying out electrical calculations including cable sizing, load calculations, protection device selection and power distribution. Reviewing customer specifications and developing practical engineering solutions. Managing electrical design packages from concept through to final release.
Supporting prototype builds, testing, commissioning and product validation. Providing technical support to production, installation and service teams. Liaising directly with customers and internal stakeholders throughout project delivery. Ensuring all designs comply with relevant electrical standards, CE/UKCA requirements and company procedures. Supporting engineering change processes and continuous improvement initiatives. Identifying opportunities to improve product performance, reduce costs and enhance manufacturability. About You We're looking for a proactive Electrical Design Engineer who enjoys taking ownership of projects and working as part of a collaborative engineering team.
You should have: A Degree or HND in Electrical Engineering, Electronic Engineering or a related discipline. A minimum of three years' experience in an Electrical Design Engineer or similar position. Experience designing electrical control systems and industrial electrical equipment. Strong knowledge of AC and DC electrical systems. Experience producing electrical schematics, wiring diagrams and technical documentation. The ability to interpret customer specifications and translate them into practical engineering solutions.
Experience carrying out electrical calculations and selecting appropriate components. Excellent problem-solving and analytical skills. Strong communication skills with the ability to work effectively across multiple departments. A full UK Driving Licence.
Desirable Experience Applications are particularly welcomed from candidates with experience in:
AutoCAD Electrical, EPLAN or similar electrical design software. PLCs, HMIs and industrial control systems. Special purpose machinery or bespoke equipment design. Industrial automation or material handling equipment. Control panel design and manufacture. CE/UKCA compliance and machinery safety standards. Commissioning, testing and fault finding.
