Job Description & How to Apply Below

Are you a confident and compassionate veterinary nurse looking to elevate your career? Join this dedicated team in Merseyside, where your skills will be valued and your work‑life balance respected. This role offers a unique chance to work within an affordable, specialist‑led referral service in soft tissue and orthopaedic surgery.

Imagine working a fulfilling 4‑day week with no weekend shifts, allowing you to enjoy a balanced lifestyle while advancing your career. This theatre‑based role will have you collaborating closely with a team of surgical specialists, including Diploma holders and RCVS Advanced Practitioners in Small Animal Surgery, as well as experienced surgical referral nurses. If you are confident with anaesthetics and thrive in a theatre environment, this could be the perfect fit for you.

A certificate in anaesthesia or surgery is desirable, but a keen interest in obtaining one is equally valued.

You will encounter a diverse surgical caseload, from TPLOs and fracture repairs to thoracic surgeries and portosystemic shunts. A solid understanding of these procedures is essential, but rest assured, ample support and learning opportunities will be provided to help you excel.

Key Responsibilities
  • Work closely with specialist surgeons to manage the referral service, ensuring effective pre, intra and post‑operative care.
  • Monitor anaesthetics and maintain sterility as a scrub nurse.
  • Involved in diagnostic imaging, ordering specialist equipment and liaising with referral clients and practices.
Qualifications & Experience
  • RCVS Registered Veterinary Nurse.
  • Strong knowledge of surgical procedures and excellent communication skills.
  • Previous referral surgical experience and certification in Veterinary Surgical Nursing or Anaesthesia preferred but not essential.
Benefits
  • 6 weeks holiday.
  • Pension.
  • Fees paid.
  • CPD funded.
  • Enhanced maternity / paternity.
