Autism Outreach Worker Community Impact

Positive Futures, founded in 1995, supports people with learning disabilities, acquired brain injury, and autism across Northern Ireland. The Autism Outreach Service (AOS) offers practical support to help families enable children or young people with autism to participate in community activities and build relationships.

As an Autism Outreach Worker, you will work within the AOS to provide one‑to‑one support to children and young people, helping them to engage in social, recreational and developmental activities.

• Plan, coordinate and evaluate activities for children and young people with autism.
• Collaborate with families to develop Person‑Centred Plans and coordinate care.
• Assist in compiling and reviewing risk assessments for activities, venues, and participants.
• Maintain accurate records, including learning logs, risk assessments and team meeting minutes.
• Encourage participation and monitor progress toward goals, reporting findings to social workers.
• Manage a caseload of approximately eight children aged 4‑18, completing initial assessments and ongoing support.
• Provide flexible support, including occasional duties outside normal working hours.

• Experience in planning, organising and implementing activities for children and young people.
• Minimum six months of experience supporting children or young people with a learning disability, acquired brain injury or autism in a paid or voluntary capacity.
• Full valid UK driving licence.
• Kind, patient, with a sense of fun.
