OverviewThe position is responsible for overseeing all accounting and financial reporting functions for the company. This role leads the Accounting operations team, ensuring the integrity, accuracy, and timeliness of financial data while maintaining effective internal controls, policies, and procedures. As a senior member of the Finance Department, the position collaborates closely with executive leadership to support strategic and operational objectives and plays a key role in sustaining a high‑performance, ethical, and team‑oriented culture.
Responsibilities- Direct and manage all day‑to‑day accounting operations, including accounts receivable, accounts payable, cash reconciliations, daily cash management with banks, journal entries, and general ledger maintenance.
- Lead the monthly, quarterly, and annual financial closing process, producing timely and accurate financial reports.
- Oversee the management and maintenance of the Company’s ERP system including upgrades, enhancements and troubleshooting in collaboration with the IT department.
- Lead and mentor a team of accounting professionals to ensure efficient operations.
- Implement process improvements to increase efficiency, accuracy, and automation.
- Contribute directly to building scalable financial processes in a growth‑oriented environment.
- Collaborate with other departments to establish processes for collections, escheatment, invoicing and payments.
- Assist with external and regulatory audits.
- Maintain up‑to‑date knowledge of U.S. Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP) Principles and ensure proper application across all financial reporting.
- Partner with the Director of Accounting to strengthen internal systems and controls, ensuring the integrity of financial processes and data.
- Provide accounting and financial insight to support strategic planning, budgeting, forecasting, and reinsurance accounting (experience preferred).
- Serve as a positive, professional role model and mentor within the organization, promoting collaboration, accountability, and continuous learning.
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, Business Administration or a similar field is a plus but not required.
- Proficient in ERP Systems.
- Five years’ experience in accountancy/finance roles.
- Strong knowledge of GAAP accounting. Experience with SAP and Reinsurance accounting is a plus.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office programs and a demonstrated ability to master other software applications as needed.
- Strong leadership capabilities.
- Ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines.
- Excellent organizational, analytical, and communication skills.
