A well-respected staple in the heart of Omaha is seeking a Senior Accountant to join its high-performing financial accounting team. This position will serve as a lead technical expert overseeing complex and high impact accounting functions, ensuring accuracy, compliance, and efficiency across the organization.

The Senior Accountant will lead month-end, year-end, and audit activities, guide other accounting staff, and serve as a subject-matter expert for system optimization and financial reporting. This is a great opportunity for a seasoned accounting professional who thrives in a collaborative, mission-driven environment and enjoys both leadership and hands-on financial work.

• Lead preparation of annual financial statements in accordance with GAAP and GASB
• Oversee accounting for endowments, capital projects, debt service, and investment activities
  
  Ensure accuracy of complex reconciliations and general ledger transactions
• Direct annual audit preparation and serve as liaison to external auditors
• Maintain compliance with accounting standards and internal policies
• Lead ERP optimization and reporting improvements
• Mentor and provide work direction to junior accounting team members
• Lead process improvement initiatives to strengthen internal controls and efficiency
• Collaborate cross-functionally with departments to deliver timely financial insights

• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field required
• 3+ years of full-cycle accounting experience, including audit and financial reporting
• Strong knowledge of GAAP, GASB, and grant / fund accounting principles
• Experience with ERP / financial systems (Workday strongly preferred)
• Exceptional analytical, organizational, and problem-solving abilities
• Proven leadership and mentoring capabilities – 2 direct reports or more
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills
• Ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment
