Assistant Business Office Manager – Life Care Centers of America
The Assistant Business Office Manager supports the Business Office Manager with overall administrative, billing, accounting, and payroll functions in accordance with applicable laws, regulations, and Life Care standards.
Key Responsibilities- Assist with effective management and oversight of bookkeeping functions including posting payments and charges to patient ledgers, balancing daily receipts, collecting delinquent accounts, and evaluating when to refer delinquent accounts to collection agencies.
- Maintain the facility checkbook and reconcile regularly.
- Manage patient accounts and assume the duties of the Business Office Manager in his/her absence.
- Provide excellent customer service and maintain a positive attitude toward patients.
- Assist in the evacuation of patients as required.
- Demonstrate dependable, regular attendance and use good judgment in all tasks.
- Communicate and function productively within an interdisciplinary team.
- Perform physical tasks such as sitting, standing, bending, lifting up to 20 lbs, and moving intermittently during working hours.
- Read, write, speak, and understand the English language; use appropriate typing level and maintain accuracy in clerical and interactive communications.
- Preserve confidentiality of proprietary and confidential information.
- Understand and follow company policies including harassment and compliance procedures.
- Adhere to Life Care’s Code of Conduct, complete mandatory compliance training, and promote a culture of integrity.
- High school graduate or equivalent; an associate’s degree or equivalent experience preferred.
- One (1) year of experience in post‑acute or related geriatric field preferred.
- Experience in Medicare and insurance billing required.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel, and e‑mail.
- Knowledge of administration practices, laws, regulations, and guidelines governing post‑acute care facilities.
- Perform proficiently in all competency areas including general business office responsibilities, cash receipts and billing, patient rights, and safety and sanitation.
- Make independent decisions when circumstances warrant such action.
- Implement and interpret the programs, goals, objectives, policies, and procedures of the administration department.
- Maintain an open door policy and prevent retaliation against those reporting concerns in good faith.
- Ensure 100 % participation by department staff in the compliance program and Code of Conduct.
