Job Summary and Responsibilities

Common Spirit Health-Creighton University School of Medicine is actively seeking an Infectious Disease Physician to enhance our  in Omaha, Nebraska.

This role is perfect for a physician passionate about delivering patient care and teaching multiple levels of learners.

Clinical Opportunity highlights
  • Creighton University Bergan-Mercy Medical Center is a tertiary medical center with a Level 1 trauma center.
  • 24‑hour in‑house hospitalist coverage and robust surgical services.
  • Full spectrum of adult infectious disease.
  • Position includes one half‑day of outpatient clinic per week and inpatient rounding on teaching and non‑teaching services.
  • Diverse interests in our well‑respected  (15  and 9 advanced practice providers): HIV, hepatitis B, hepatitis C, sexually transmissible infections, antimicrobial stewardship, infection prevention, orthopedic , public health advocacy, and medical education.
  • Call 1:5.
  • Educational environment includes weekly ‑wide clinical case conferences, fellow educational sessions, twice‑weekly microbiology rounds, quarterly journal club, and weekly internal medicine grand rounds. The program continues to evolve with input from fellows.
  • Academic service rounding team includes an w, internal medicine residents, medical students, and a clinical pharmacist. Non‑academic services include an ‑trained APP.
  • Academic appointment with Creighton University School of Medicine, rank commensurate with level of experience.

Job Requirements Patient Care
  • Diagnose and treat various medical conditions.
  • Develop and implement comprehensive treatment plans.
  • Conduct thorough medical examinations and histories.
Communication
  • Communicate effectively with patients, families, and healthcare teams.
  • Provide clear and concise medical information.
  • Foster a collaborative and patient‑centered approach to healthcare.
Documentation
  • Maintain accurate and up‑to‑date patient records.
  • Document medical findings, diagnoses, and treatment plans.

Diagnostic Procedures
  • Order and interpret diagnostic tests, such as lab work and imaging.
  • Perform procedures as needed.

  • Participate in interdisciplinary team meetings and case discussions.
