JOB TITLE: Curriculum Specialist
LOCATION: South High School
Reports to: Building Principal
Work Schedule/ FLSA Status: 188 Days plus time equivalent to 30 additional work days

Commensurate with experience and education plus 15 percent of the regular teaching salary/ As outlined in applicable negotiated agreement
Start Date: August 2026
* Please note the Curriculum Specialist position is considered a teaching position and is not reported to the state of Nebraska as an administrative position.
Instruction and Leadership- Minimum of a Master’s Degree in education related fields.
- A valid Nebraska Teaching Certificate with applicable content area endorsements. Endorsements in the area of administration and supervision or curriculum and instruction for secondary education preferred.
- Minimum of four years successful teaching experience. Successful teaching experience in a multicultural diverse urban setting preferred.
- Actively participate in professional learning, including but not limited to the Secondary Instructional Leadership Network (SILN).
- Provide instructional coaching, mentoring, and feedback to support effective teaching practices.
- Lead school-based professional learning sessions focused on curriculum, assessment, and evidence-based instructional strategies.
- Support and strengthen Professional Learning Communities (PLCs) to promote reflection, collaboration, and shared accountability for student learning.
- Encourage teacher growth through ongoing coaching, mentoring, and professional support.
- Assist with teacher evaluations to promote continuous growth using the district’s Framework for Effective Teaching.
- Maintain and promote a collaborative learning culture centered on equity, student success, and continuous improvement.
- Serve as a member of the building leadership team.
- Monitor and support the delivery, coordination, and articulation of instruction in assigned content areas.
- Collaborate with teachers to design learning experiences aligned with curriculum standards, assessment expectations, and the diverse needs of students.
- Promote ongoing curriculum and instructional improvement using data-driven decision-making within rapid improvement cycles.
- Maintain current knowledge of educational trends, research, and issues impacting high school instruction.
- Demonstrate proficiency with educational technologies, digital tools, and district instructional platforms.
- Support teachers in using data and student evidence to inform instruction, intervention, and enrichment opportunities.
- Maintain documentation, prepare reports, and track instructional materials to support programmatic decision-making.
- Maintain accurate inventories of instructional materials, supplies, and equipment.
- Work collaboratively with the Principal and School Leadership Team to address instructional priorities, guide decision-making, and support problem-solving.
- Demonstrate ability to exercise sound judgment including appropriate handling of all confidential matters with a minimum of supervision.
- Utilize excellent written and communication skills.
- Promote a school environment that is safe, inclusive, and conducive to student learning.
- Model and uphold a philosophy that all students can and will learn.
- Demonstrate empathy and cultural proficiency in supporting a diverse urban school community.
- Serve as a positive, mature role model for staff and students.
- Maintain effective communication with staff, families, and community members to build trust and shared responsibility.
- Assist with the implementation of Board of Education policies and district initiatives to support school-wide improvement goals.
- Apply improvement science methodologies in support of student outcomes.
- Demonstrate strong problem-solving, organizational, and time-management skills.
- Maintain regular attendance and demonstrate flexibility to meet job demands, including evening activities.
- Uphold the district’s mission, vision, and values by modeling integrity, professionalism, and accountability.
