The Omaha Academy of Ballet is accepting applications for dance instructors in the following disciplines and levels for Summer 2026 and 2026-27 classes.
Inspiring Omaha to dance since 1962, the Omaha Academy of Ballet is the metro’s premier ballet studio. While the primary focus of the studio is ballet education, OAB also offers dancers a variety of classes in contemporary, hip‑hop, jazz, lyrical, modern, and tap. Our team is searching for highly trained and passionate dance instructors who love sharing their talents and expertise with dancers ages 3‑Adult.
Previous teaching experience is required.
Job
Duties include:
- Develop lesson plans that align with the curriculum after collaborating with the Artistic Director to understand the expectations.
- Maintain accurate and timely attendance for assigned classes.
- Communicate with families regarding dancer progress (written and verbal).
- Plan and choreograph spring recital dances.
- Assist with dress rehearsals and attend recital performances.
- Attend faculty training sessions and staff meetings.
- Support and participate in studio events as required to encourage dancer growth and retention.
- Possess strong technical knowledge and teaching skills, emphasizing safe techniques, creativity, and the healthy development of dancers.
- Capable of fostering a positive and inclusive studio environment while effectively managing the classroom.
- Collaborate effectively with other staff and instructors.
- Exhibit strong interpersonal skills and the ability to inspire and motivate students.
- Show a willingness to learn and grow as an instructor.
- Build trust and credibility with others.
- ABT/NTC Certification is favorable but not required.
In 2025, OAB refocused its ballet training to align with the American Ballet Theatre National Training Curriculum. Under the artistic direction of Rachel Vickrey, Nebraska’s only ABT® National Training Curriculum Certified Teacher (Pre‑Primary through Level 6/7 & Partnering).
ABT® National Training Curriculum certification is not required upon hire. All faculty are expected to teach within the ABT® National Training Curriculum and work in collaboration with the Artistic Director, with the long–term goal of developing fully certified instructors.

Pay range:
- $25‑$40 per hour, commensurate with experience.
- Pay rate for faculty and staff meetings, spring recital rehearsals, and other administrative responsibilities: $15 per hour.
Schedules are flexible, with classes primarily offered after school Monday‑Friday and Saturday morning/early afternoon. Limited daytime classes and off‑site teaching in after‑school programs for underserved students are also available.
- Summer 2026 classes begin in late June.
- 2026‑27 classes begin in early September (faculty meetings in mid‑August).
