GFT is seeking a Sr. Traffic Engineer to join our Transportation Team in one of the following office locations:
Kansas City, MO;
Wichita, KS;
Omaha, NE;
Denver, CO;
St. Louis, MO;
Tulsa, OK; or Oklahoma City, OK. This role follows a hybrid work model, requiring regular attendance at one of these office locations.

Responsibilities- Prepare and direct traffic analysis and studies, including safety studies. Complete design and plan preparation of traffic signal and interconnect drawings.
- Plan and develop engineering projects addressing unique or controversial problems, defining scope and developing novel concepts.
- Work independently, as a team member or lead, to execute projects such as technical studies, project design, and preparation of specifications and technical plans; coordinate with the team or team leader.
- Review project design for general compliance with engineering principles, company standards, and client contract requirements.
- Coordinate activities related to technical developments, scheduling, and manpower; resolve engineering design issues.
- Evaluate and approve design changes, specifications, and drawing releases.
- Demonstrate team management capabilities, develop project scope of work, estimate manpower needs, prepare CPM schedules, and track project progress.
- Ensure projects are completed within the allocated time and budget.
- Mentor entry-level engineers and maintain liaison with internal and external stakeholders on technical matters.
- Plan and conduct project meetings; ensure adherence to quality control and quality assurance guidelines.
- Interpret contract changes and advise management on needed changes.
- Maintain professional and technical skills through education, publications, networks, and professional societies; participate in business proposals as needed.
- Bachelor of Science in Civil Engineering from an ABET-accredited university.
- Minimum of 10 years of professional experience in Traffic and/or Highway engineering.
- Licensed Professional Engineer (PE) in Kansas or Missouri; other state licensing possible with licensure in other Midwest states as needed.
- Experience with KDOT or MoDOT and other local transportation agencies.
- Experience with traffic and safety analysis; knowledge of MUTCD and Highway Capacity Manual.
- Experience with traffic simulation software (Synchro, HCS, Sidra, or VISSIM).
- Experience with design of traffic control elements such as plans, specifications, estimates for traffic signals, roadway signing, pavement markings, and work-zone maintenance of traffic plans (preferred).
- Thorough knowledge of Micro Station CAD and MS Excel/Word;
Open Roads Designer (preferred). - Strong communication skills; ability to present information to management, public groups, and/or boards of directors.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities; able to work with mathematical concepts and apply them to practical scenarios.
- Experience with Microsoft Excel and general engineering software; commitment to teamwork and inclusion.

- Certified as a Professional Traffic Operations Engineer (PTOE) preferred.
- Salary range: $125,000 - $165,000, dependent on experience and geographic location.
