Regional Lead Omaha

RJN employees answer, "Yes!" to all these questions and more. We are currently seeking a Regional Lead to join the RJN family and lead our Omaha, NE office.

Position Summary

Lead the day‑to‑day operations of the local Omaha office. Plan, direct, supervise, and control the execution of business, technical, fiscal, and administrative functions of the branch office while supporting the project management, client engagement, and business development efforts with municipal clients in the water, wastewater, and stormwater markets.

Position Responsibilities

A sampling of the responsibilities of this position include:

  • Plan, manage, and facilitate all office programs, projects, and tasks and delegate them as able to project managers, engineers, and other staff members as appropriate.
  • Work with the regional leadership team to develop strategic sales and market development plans for eastern Nebraska, western Iowa, western Missouri and eastern Kansas as well as surrounding regions.
  • Act as a Seller‑Doer by actively and independently cultivating existing client relationships and developing new client relationships and business opportunities. Lead client engagement strategies and pursuit plans for multiple infrastructure clients.
  • Prepare and submit client‑specific technical proposals for new business. Manage contract negotiations, including definition of project scope, budget and fee, and schedule.
  • Direct preparation of work plans and supervise project teams. Responsible for meeting contractual obligations (i.e., scope, budget, and schedule).
  • Mobilize company resources through effective liaison with support departments and other offices to create project teams capable of completing effective and quality work. Supervise the daily activities of local staff.
  • Promote technical excellence on projects, ensuring established QA/QC objectives are met. Analyze contractual and financial performance objectives and direct activities to improve performance when necessary.
  • Monitor and report to senior leadership and accounting team on progress of all project activities, including significant milestones and any conditions that may impact project cost or schedule.
  • Manage workloads to meet deadlines, adjusting as needed by changing demands. Manage staffing volumes according to project and backlog needs. Conduct performance assessments for direct reports, mentor staff, and provide training opportunities for the development and advancement of local team.
  • Be responsible for the health and safety planning for the branch office. Follow all company, client, safety, and regulatory requirements.
  • Represent RJN at local and national conferences and trade shows. Submit abstracts and present at these events. Become involved in local professional organizations (e.g., APWA, WEF, AWWA).
  • Be versatile… lead when required, support when needed, and serve as a role model and facilitator for RJN.
Direct Reports

This position will have multiple direct reports including project managers, engineers, data and GIS analysts, and field technicians.

Essential Skills & Expertise

Our ideal candidate profile includes:

  • Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering or related from an accredited institution
  • Minimum 10 years of relevant experience
  • Professional engineering license in Nebraska, Iowa, Kansas or Missouri or the ability to obtain licensure within six months of hire.
  • Experience in the municipal underground infrastructure (water, wastewater, stormwater) field is preferred, but not required.
  • Supervisory experience required, as well as proven success in managing multiple simultaneous municipal projects.
  • Excellent public speaking and communication skills and the ability to convey information effectively, both verbally and in writing.
  • The ability to comprehend and convey technical information and engineering services.
  • Time management skills, to meet deadlines, multi‑task, and be flexible to adjust workload to changing demands.
