Interstates is currently in search of a talented and motivated Senior Estimator with at least 3 to 5 years' experience in industrial electrical estimating. Your role will be to work with our team of construction professionals and provide accurate and efficient cost estimates for projects.

Responsibilities

The estimating department is responsible for producing project-specific construction estimates based on written and/or oral instructions from our clients. Your role in this process will be as follows:

  • Reviews and analyzes bid specifications, bid drawings and other bid documents to prepare estimates as well as consult with clients, vendors, and other offer estimators.
  • Attend job walks; pre-bid meetings; collaborations and conferences with clients and design professionals.
  • Co-develop scopes with clients and other project team members to understand what customers value. Able to lead scope review meetings with external clients.
  • Maintain and capture all necessary documentation of the bid cycle (i.e.: notes, assumptions, verbal instructions).
  • Develop accurate and timely electrical construction estimates on which we base competitive bids and proposals for our client-based customers. Perform budget pricing from schematic drawings and narrative.
  • Understand how scope of works impacts other estimators and actively engages with others to ensure there are not scope gaps.
  • Leads communications and collaboration efforts with internal and external stakeholders.
  • Defines winning strategies and value-add ideas as needed.
  • Assesses risks and mitigates them by offering solutions and clarifies them in proposals.
  • Identifies and utilizes job cost history for production units, direct labor, indirect labor, general expenses to ensure that costs are applied correctly.
  • Draft scope letters, proposals and vendor solicitations.
  • Assembles and transfers the estimate information to the execution team.
  • Work under deadline pressures in an efficient, composed, and calm manner.
Additional Essential Functions
  • Work alongside other estimators, project managers and project engineers on change-orders and cost-to-complete estimates of on-going projects.
  • Help create and communicate company standards for estimating electrical design/build and plans and specs work.
  • Additional duties as assigned by management.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
  • Preferred to have experience with the following software's:
    Microsoft Excel, Microsoft Office, Microsoft Word, Adobe Acrobat, Bluebeam, Microsoft Outlook, and one of the major computerized estimating programs (e.g., Accubid, etc).
  • Analytical, problem-solving mentality.
  • Team player, self-motivated, get along well with supervisors, peers and subordinates.
  • Ability to lead other estimators working on the same project.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication.
  • Able to track and organize projects and information.
  • Able to calculate figures and amounts.
  • Possesses sound judgement skills, attention to detail, and the ability to prioritize work.
Education

Bachelor's or associate's degree from two year college or Technical School in a construction related program.

Experience

And/or a combination of education and 3-5 years' experience in estimating Industrial electrical projects.

Location

This role will be based out of our Omaha, NE office.

Travel

This role requires some occasional travel to job sites near Omaha area, per business needs and requirements…
