This position is responsible for basic safety, efficient, and proper operation of all equipment associated with utility plant and distribution system serving the UNMC /Neb Med campus. Operates, and shuts down boilers and their auxiliaries, chillers and their auxiliaries, generators and their auxiliaries, and all other necessary plant equipment from a central control room. Responsible for the operation and monitoring of the 13.8 KV and 5KV electrical distribution system serving the UNMC /Neb Med campus.

Performs preventative and routine maintenance as assigned.

Education:

• Valid motor vehicle operator’s license
• Required to obtain a valid City of Omaha 3rd, 2nd, or 1st Grade Stationary Engineer license within two- and one-half years

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

• Ability to read, interpret, and work from blueprints, drawings and layouts
• Demonstrated mechanical and operational aptitude

Preferred Education:

Relevant coursework/specialized training or equivalent. Technical School, Trade School, Community College, Apprenticeship Program, and/or related Education Program.

• Operation and maintenance of high pressure boilers and related equipment.
• Fundamental knowledge of industrial plant chilled water, steam, and electrical systems
• Two years’ experience working with industrial equipment in either operations or maintenance.
