Position Overview

Join our team as an Environmental Specialist within Kiewit Power Constructors where you will play a pivotal role in ensuring environmental compliance across diverse power and energy infrastructure projects throughout the United States. In this position, you will collaborate closely with construction teams to design, coordinate, and implement comprehensive environmental compliance programs tailored to each project's unique needs. Your expertise will help navigate and enforce federal, state, and local environmental regulations, ensuring project timelines remain uninterrupted while safeguarding against any regulatory risks.

District Overview

Kiewit Power Constructors offers integrated engineering, procurement, construction and startup service needs, specializing in gas and coal-fired power generation, coal retrofit and renewable energy. From concept to commercialization, our full suite of EPC and startup services set industry standards for quality design and superior functionality in delivering power projects throughout North America.

Location

This position will support projects across the US, starting with projects in Nebraska or Minnesota. We provide relocation support or per-diem to our projects.

Responsibilities
  • Lead the environmental compliance for the Project by coordinating, managing and implementing project-wide environmental compliance programs and strategies.
  • Identify, assess and reduce environmental risks to the company.
  • Identify applicable environmental requirements at federal, state and local levels for the project which may include hazardous waste, air quality, storm water, spill plans, etc.
  • Identify and obtain applicable permits and manage as required in the Environmental Management System.
  • Review and interpret environmental specifications and drawings.
  • Prepare, update and implement site specific environmental plans and submit required reports.
  • Develop a comprehensive compliance tracking matrix to capture all environmental requirements.
  • Provide input to work plans and participate in meetings.
  • Develop and conduct environmental protection and awareness training to staff at all levels.
  • Communicate with field crews to ensure understanding of project environmental requirements.
  • Perform and oversee field inspections and monitoring (water, waste, noise, etc.)
  • Identify, document, report and develop corrective actions for environmental incidents.
  • Liaise with environmental agencies and attend field visits with client and regulatory agencies.
  • Identify project materials and vendors needed to support the environmental requirements at the project.
Qualifications
  • Ability to travel and relocate as needed.
  • Bachelor's degree in environmental health, environmental engineering, environmental studies or another related field is preferred.
  • 1-3 Years of experience
  • Demonstrated experience related to the areas of responsibility for environmental compliance for major construction projects or similar is a plus but not required.
  • Interest in an environmental role in a construction project setting.
  • Highly motivated and self-managed to get things done right the first time.
  • Effective and strong written and verbal communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Proficient in MS Office (Power Point, Word, Excel) and other relevant software systems.
  • Excellent organizational abilities and time management skills.
  • Strong work ethic and willing to do what it takes to get the job done.
  • The ability to work independently as well as part of a team.
  • Uncompromising attitude toward safety and integrity.
