The Department of Health Promotion, located within the College of Public Health at the University of Nebraska Medical Center (UNMC), seeks to hire a qualified Postdoctoral Research Associate to be part of a whole-of-community project to improve diabetes care, education, and prevention. The Diabetes On Track initiative is a 3-year pilot project funded through the Diabetes Care Foundation to improve Nebraska’s capacity to address diabetes care, education, and prevention efforts.

The initiative is currently being implemented in two rural communities in Nebraska through close collaboration with the local Health Departments, hospitals, health clinics and other local organizations. This position will work with investigators across the College of Public Health and the College of Medicine and will report directly to Dr. David Dzewaltowski, Professor, Community Chair for Physical Activity, Nutrition and Obesity.

We anticipate the Postdoctoral Research Associate to be a two-year position, with possible renewal after the first year based on organizational fit and successful performance.

• Contribute to scientific knowledge by developing, submitting, and delivering conference presentations and publishing manuscripts.
• Build and maintain a working knowledge of significant developments and trends in chronic disease management, diabetes-specific prevention and care management, value-based payment models, and others as identified.
• Identify, contribute to and lead grant applications and RFPs.
• Support the development of project deliverables by participating in planning sessions, creating outlines, and reviewing drafts.
• Support development of measurement tools by attending planning sessions and reviewing tools.
• Provide guidance and feedback to work team members on project plans, measurement tools, data analysis, and other deliverables.

The successful candidate will have Ph.D. completed in an appropriate scientific field contributing to interdisciplinary population health research (e.g., public health, bioinformatics, social sciences, physical activity, nutrition).
