The Pain Psychologists primary duties are to provide pain psychology services within the Integrative Pain Team. Biofeedback is a major emphasis area for this position, for pain, mental health, and medical conditions for which Biofeedback is indicated. Clinical care should be delivered through a combination of virtual/telehealth and in-person services as part of an interprofessional specialty pain care team in the Biopsychosocial Model of Pain Care and VA Stepped Care Model for Pain Management.
The incumbent will provide a variety of behavioral pain management strategies and collaborate with other team members to deliver interdisciplinary pain care.
Major duties include but are not limited to the following:
- Direct Clinical Services, primarily to the Integrative Pain Team but could also include services for other programs within the NWIHCS.
- Provide a full range of psychological assessment services and diagnose mental health disorders; refer to other providers as indicated.
- Provide comprehensive, evidence-based behavioral interventions for pain (e.g., CBT for Chronic Pain), including individual and group therapy.
- Demonstrate understanding of biopsychosocial approach to pain care; work in an integrated, team-based fashion with other pain specialists.
- Biofeedback is a major emphasis area for this position for pain and other conditions.
- Provide psychological assessments as needed, including evaluations for pre-surgical implantable pain devices.
- Provide pain-focused education to patients and families; cover topics such as pain neuroscience, biopsychosocial model, and self-management.
- Assess, plan, implement, and evaluate treatment plans for adults with complex pain problems, including potential Opioid Use Disorder; coordinate with the health care team.
- Utilize multimodal treatment modalities (e.g., Biofeedback, Mindfulness, MI, CBT for Chronic Pain, CBT-I, ACT, PRT, relaxation, hypnosis) to achieve treatment objectives.
- Collaborate with team to maximize integrative health therapies and active pain management strategies; review records of patients at risk of opioid-related side effects and advise primary care.

Pay: Competitive salary and regular salary increases.
