Nebraska Medicine is now inviting applications for a Pharmacy Technician – Pharmacy Supply. This role is ideal for someone passionate about inventory management and organization of stock or bulk medication distribution. The position works from the Nebraska Medicine main campus in Omaha, NE within the inpatient pharmacy’s supply area. The pharmacy supply team receives, stocks, picks, and fills medication orders for the inpatient pharmacy and ambulatory areas, including central pharmacies, ORs, infusion centers, clinics, and replenishes automated dispensing cabinets on inpatient units.
Preferred for candidates who hold current Nebraska pharmacy technician registration and have experience in a pharmacy setting.
Shift Details- Full‑time, 0.9 FTE, benefits eligible
- First Shift: 7 on 7 off
- 10‑hour shift starting at 6:00 am
- Rotation starts on Thursday
- Manage medication distribution to pharmacy, nursing units, and operating rooms.
- Order, receive, sort, and distribute medications.
- Troubleshoot equipment issues and provide excellent customer service and patient care.
- Create and utilize medication usage reports to analyze data for effective inventory control.
- Handle incoming telephone calls from inpatient units and triage appropriately.
- Prepare dosage forms, including sterile compounding for immediate use and non‑sterile compounding of oral liquids and topicals.
- Calculate IV infusion schedules, reorder as needed, and collaborate with providers, pharmacists, and physicians on medication concentrations.
- Minimum of 18 years of age.
- High school education or equivalent.
- Licensed Nebraska pharmacy intern or registered as a pharmacy technician with the State of Nebraska Board of Pharmacy.
- If registered as a Pharmacy Technician, certification within twelve months of registration date.
- Prior pharmacy technician or hospital setting experience.
- Knowledge of medical terminology and top 200 medications prescribed.
- Proficient with computers, automated dispensing cabinets (Omnicell), EPIC, and mechanical devices for product preparation and dispensing.
- Experience with non‑sterile compounding.
- Experience with phones, pagers, fax machines, and handheld scanners.
