Overview

We are an independent optical practice specializing in luxury, design-forward eyewear and delivering exceptional optometric care. We are seeking a knowledgeable and service-driven Dispensing Optician to join our team. This role blends clinical excellence with elevated retail experience, ensuring that every patient receives outstanding care—from pretesting through eyewear selection and final dispensing.

Key Responsibilities Patient Care and Clinical Support
  • Perform comprehensive pretesting procedures for optometrists, including visual acuity measurement, autorefraction, tonometry, retinal imaging, and other diagnostic testing as required.
  • Accurately document patient information and ensure seamless clinical workflow.
  • Maintain a clean, organized, patient-focused clinical environment.
Eyewear Styling and Dispensing
  • Guide patients in selecting premium eyewear that reflects their personal style, lifestyle needs, and optical prescription.
  • Educate clients on lens technologies including progressive lenses, occupational lenses, blue-light protection, custom coatings, and specialty lenses.
  • Take precise measurements including PD, seg height, wrap and tilt adjustments, and fitting metrics for advanced lens designs.
  • Dispense, adjust, troubleshoot, and repair eyewear to ensure optimal vision, comfort, and aesthetics.
Sales & Customer Experience
  • Deliver a personalized, concierge-level experience consistent with independent luxury retail standards.
  • Communicate brand stories and craftsmanship details of independent eyewear collections.
  • Maintain product knowledge across multiple independent luxury brands and stay current with design trends and optical innovations.
  • Support merchandising, inventory accuracy, and visual presentation of the optical boutique.
Operational Excellence
  • Process orders accurately with lens labs and vendors.
  • Ensure timely follow-up and professional communication with patients.
  • Adhere to optical, medical, and privacy compliance standards.
Qualifications
  • Experience as a dispensing optician, optical stylist, or optical assistant required; ABO certification preferred but not mandatory.
  • Strong understanding of lens technologies, frame materials, and optical measurements.
  • Prior experience in luxury retail, boutique optical, or independent eyewear strongly preferred.
  • Excellent communication, interpersonal, and customer-service skills.
  • Detail-oriented, professional, and committed to clinical accuracy and exceptional patient experience.
