The Surgical Technologist handles the instruments, supplies, and equipment necessary during the surgical procedure. He/she understands the procedure being performed and anticipates the needs of the surgeon. He/she has the necessary knowledge and ability to ensure quality patient care during the operative procedure and is constantly vigilant for maintenance of the sterile field.

Education: Graduate of an accredited Surgical Technician Program or prior on‑job training in surgical technology required.
Licensure: N/A
Certification: Basic Life Support (BLS) required or within 90 days of hire.
Experience: 1+ year of surgical experience preferred.
Required Knowledge / Skills / Abilities- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
- Ability to work independently and in a team.
- Ability to prioritize tasks and manage time effectively.
- Strong critical thinking and problem‑solving skills.
- Maintain sterile field during surgical procedure through consistent application of aseptic technique.
- Perform scrub duties accurately, concisely, and timely.
- Adapt and flexibly perform scrub duties for a variety of orthopedic surgical procedures.
- Readily identify locations and secure supplies/equipment in the department.
- Use communication skills to achieve desired outcomes and foster teamwork.
- Promote team concept by demonstrating commitment and involvement among co‑workers and other members of the health‑care team.
- Follow risk management practices to provide a safe environment for patients, co‑workers and hospital.
- Demonstrate knowledge and skills appropriate to the age of the patients served.
- Maintain professional appearance, behavior and work environment.
- Enhance personal and professional development.
- Comply with safety activities, policies and procedures and regulatory requirements such as OSHA and the Joint Commission.
- Perform other duties as assigned for which competency has been demonstrated.
This position is classified as Medium Work in the Dictionary of Occupational Titles, requiring the exertion of 20 to 50 pounds of force occasionally, and/or 10 to 25 pounds of force frequently, and/or greater than negligible up to 10 pounds of force constantly to move objects. Physical Demand requirements are in excess of those for Light Work.
Additional RequirementsMust be able to pass background check. We also conduct pre‑employment physical and drug testing. Any job offer will be contingent upon successful completion of a pre‑employment physical with a drug screen, background check and obtaining active licensures per job requirements.
