Description

Typically the NICU is also assigned to adult floors or adult ICUs. Can't guarantee NICU every shift. Would be bumped out when we prioritize our permanent staff to work in NICU.

General job duties

Basic floor care respiratory therapy:
Nebulizers and MDI's, bronchial hygiene (CPT), Volume Expansion (PEP), CPAP & BiPAP all ages (infant to geriatric).

  • Neonatal Intensive Care (NICU) experience and/or Pediatric Intentive Care (PICU) experience, familiar with the Servoi, SiPAP, and Sensor medics 3100A (HFOV) ventilator machines and blood gas analysis. Familiar with electronic charting.
  • Adult Intensive Care Unit (AICU) experience, familiar with the Servoi, ventilator extubation protocols, and ABG's. Familiar with electronic charting.
Equipment utilized in the unit/dept.
  • Computerized charting with EPIC
  • Supply and medication Pyxis machines
Required skills and minimum years of experience

Minimum 2 years' experience in floor care therapy.

Minimum 2 years' experience with intensive care therapy.

Specific licensures and certifications/registrations required
  • BLS, ACLS if working in the AICU
  • NRP if working in NICU
  • PALS if working in PICU
Shift or schedule requirements

Options:
Full time 12 hour days for Floors/AICU coverage (3 days a week including weekends), Full time 12 hour nights for NICU/PICU coverage (3 days a week including weekends), or varied hours for floors (days, evenings, nights) full time. No required call, but can be on a call list for additional shifts if needed.

Number of patients in a day

Patient numbers will vary based on workload;
Lead Therapist 24/7 for support and additional support staff during regular business hours.

Nurse to patient ratio

nursing only.

Dress Code

Scubs (any color) or business casual.

Unit/department specific training and orientation program

Orientation will be five to six 8-12 hour shifts; additional training if needed will be provided.
