Position Summary

The individual will perform, evaluate, teach and report Human DNA Identity and quality assurance assays, utilizing specialized knowledge, and technical and analytical skills. The role includes DNA/RNA extraction, standard and real‑time PCR, multiplex amplification, genotyping, sequence analyses, next‑generation sequencing, statistical analysis of DNA test results, and expert testimony through depositions and courtroom testimony.

Required Qualifications
  • Education: Chemistry, Biology, Biochemistry, Molecular Biology, Medical Technology, Genetics or related science with coursework in Biochemistry, Genetics, Molecular Biology, and Statistics and/or Population Statistics.
  • Experience: Minimum 1 year of molecular biology procedures, including knowledge of forensic theory, procedures, techniques, statistics and instrumentation.
  • License: None required.
  • Computer Applications: Microsoft Excel, Word, PowerPoint.
  • Additional

    Skills:

    • Excellent written and oral communication skills.
    • Ability to follow strict protocols regarding evidence custody, testing procedures and reporting guidelines.
    • Comprehensive knowledge of scientific theory to perform and evaluate complex testing and correlate results.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Education: Master’s degree or equivalent in Chemistry, Biology, Molecular Biology, Genetics or related science; coursework or training in forensic analysis, statistics, and/or population genetics.
  • Experience: 3 years of molecular biology procedures, with demonstrated knowledge of forensic theory, procedures, techniques, statistics and instrumentation.
  • License: None required.
  • Computer Applications: Microsoft Outlook.

    Skills:

    Ability to work as an active team member, report results and issues to a supervisor, and collaborate effectively with other professionals.
