The primary purpose of the Sales, Events, and Marketing Coordinator is to support the sales, events, and marketing teams in driving revenue for the hotel by providing administrative support in these areas.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
  • Answer and distribute inbound phone calls to the sales and events office. Communicate with existing and prospective clients via telephone, personal contact, outside calls, correspondence, email, and other means.
  • Conduct walk-in hotel site inspections and maintain thorough follow-up methods. Represent the hotel at trade shows, industry associations, and other events to promote the hotel and/or the city.
  • Handle account details and coordinate final arrangements with Events and Operational departments.
  • Attend meetings such as pre-convention, business review, departmental, and other relevant meetings.
  • Prepare and present proposals and contracts promptly, accurately, and professionally, ensuring profitability.
  • Assist with booking and detailing internal meetings and/or events.
  • Submit EOs, reports, proposals, contracts, and correspondence within deadlines.
  • Communicate special needs and changes to responsible staff to ensure requirements are met.
  • Know the function space details, setups, turn times, and create event set-up diagrams using Social Tables software.
  • Ensure guest satisfaction by following up after events with thank you letters and comment cards, and communicate effectively over the phone.
  • Assist the marketing team with copywriting and photography.
  • Follow all Marcus Hotels and Resorts policies, Marriott standards, and information protection procedures.
  • Perform other related duties and special projects as assigned.
  • POSITION REQUIREMENTS:
  • High school diploma or equivalent required; a four-year college degree is preferred. Relevant experience in hotel sales and/or event planning may be considered.
  • Basic mathematical skills for calculating room blocks, function costs, and checks.
  • Flexibility to work varying schedules based on hotel needs and event oversight.
  • Ability to handle guest and employee concerns in a friendly, positive manner.
  • Excellent interpersonal, listening, and communication skills in English.
  • Ability to sit, stand, and move throughout the hotel to perform essential functions.
  • High accuracy and attention to detail.
  • Promptly respond to inquiries about hotel facilities and menus.
  • Conduct hotel tours and meet clients as needed.
  • Hearing and visual ability to observe emergency situations.
  • Accurate data entry skills.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Word and Excel; knowledge of Marriott systems like CI/TY is preferred.
  • Excellent telephone etiquette.
  • Professional appearance and courteous manner.
  • Knowledge of market segments; willingness to learn is required.
  • Strong analytical skills.
  • Mathematical skills for calculations related to room blocks, rates, budgets, and forecasts.
  • Ability to travel with reliable transportation.
  • Flexibility to work varying schedules.
  • Ability to meet departmental and hotel financial and sales objectives.
