The Lead Cloud Systems Architect is responsible for designing and governing secure, scalable infrastructure and cloud systems across on‑premises, hybrid, and multi‑cloud environments, ensuring solutions meet resiliency, reliability, and security requirements. This role leads the development of enterprise standards, oversees disaster recovery and business continuity planning, and drives modernization initiatives—including automation, platform engineering, and application migration. The architect collaborates with IT, security, and executive leadership to align technology strategies with business needs, while ensuring compliance with regulatory frameworks such as HIPAA, HITRUST, PCI, and SOC 2.
Additionally, the position provides architectural leadership for innovation, technology assessment, and the adoption of emerging technologies, shaping the organization’s long‑term systems strategy and mentoring technical teams.
- Minimum of 10 years’ experience in systems engineering, cloud architecture, or infrastructure architecture roles.
- Bachelor’s degree in computer science, Information Technology or related field or equivalent combination of education/experience (one year of education equals one year of experience).
- Deep expertise in cloud platform architecture (AWS and Azure), systems engineering, virtualization, hybrid‑cloud patterns, and platform automation.
- Strong knowledge of zero‑trust principles, identity and access management, and secure system design.
- Proficiency with Infrastructure‑as‑Code tools such as Terraform and Ansible; experience with CI/CD pipelines using Git Hub, Azure Dev Ops, or similar platforms.
- Extensive experience with virtualization (VMware), operating systems engineering (Linux/Windows), and containerization (Kubernetes).
- Demonstrated ability to architect solutions compliant with HIPAA, HITRUST, SOC 2, and PCI.
- Experience leading modernization of systems platforms, compute architectures, and cloud migrations.
- Strong leadership, communication, and stakeholder engagement skills with the ability to influence across teams and leadership levels.
- Experience developing platform roadmaps, systems architecture standards, and governance frameworks.
- Ability to mentor engineers and architects in systems engineering, cloud design, and automation practices.
- Relevant certifications (AWS Solutions Architect, Azure Architect Expert, VMware, Terraform, RHCE, etc.) preferred.
