Work schedule:

Monday through Friday, 8 a.m. – 5 p.m. with an excellent work‑life balance.

Location:

Omaha, NE. The position is based in the Omaha office and requires travel to Douglas and Sarpy counties as needed.

Overview

We are looking for a highly experienced attorney to represent Nebraska’s child welfare agency and protect vulnerable children. The attorney will appear as a special assistant attorney general in juvenile court proceedings and provide litigation support to the agency and Attorney General’s Office.

Responsibilities
  • Provide legal support to the Division of Children and Family Services as a juvenile court attorney.
  • Appear in juvenile court proceedings as a special assistant attorney general representing the Department.
  • Provide litigation support to the agency and Attorney General’s Office, including handling appeals filed with Nebraska appellate courts.
  • Travel to surrounding counties as needed.
Qualifications

Minimum Qualifications
  • Three years of experience as an attorney practicing law and providing legal services such as preparing and trying cases, advising clients, and/or interpreting laws or administrative policies.
Legal Requirements
  • Admitted to the Nebraska Bar.

  • Prior work experience in the field of juvenile law.
