ROLE OVERVIEW

This job description outlines a senior operational leadership role responsible for driving performance, consistency, and growth across multiple Burger King restaurants within a defined region in Illinois.

The Regional Director of Operations provides strategic and hands‑on leadership for a portfolio of Burger King restaurants across the Illinois region. This role oversees multi‑unit operations, partners closely with franchise owners and corporate stakeholders, and ensures operational excellence, profitability, and talent development across all assigned locations.

HERE'S WHAT YOU WILL BE DOING:

Key Responsibilities
  • Lead, coach, and develop District Managers and General Managers to achieve operational, financial, and people objectives.
  • Drive consistent execution of Burger King brand standards, operational procedures, food safety, and guest experience expectations.
  • Analyze regional performance metrics including sales, labor, food cost, and controllables, and implement action plans to improve results.
  • Ensure compliance with all local, state, and federal regulations, including Illinois labor laws, health codes, and safety standards.
  • Partner with marketing and field leadership to execute promotions, new product launches, and local market initiatives.
  • Oversee staffing strategies, succession planning, and leadership development to build a strong talent pipeline.
  • Conduct regular restaurant visits, audits, and performance reviews to ensure operational consistency and accountability.
  • Collaborate with franchise owners and corporate teams on budgeting, forecasting, capital planning, and strategic growth initiatives.
  • Lead change management initiatives and support new restaurant openings, remodels, and reimages within the region.
Financial and Operational Accountability
  • Own regional profit and loss performance, including sales growth, cost control, and margin improvement.
  • Set and monitor operational KPIs, ensuring corrective actions are taken to address underperformance.
  • Optimize labor deployment, scheduling practices, and productivity to balance guest service and profitability.
Leadership and Culture
  • Model Burger King values and foster a high‑performance, people‑first culture.
  • Promote accountability, engagement, and continuous improvement across all levels of the organization.
  • Ensure effective communication and alignment between field leadership, support teams, and ownership groups.
Preferred Experience
  • Prior experience with Burger King or a comparable national QSR brand.
  • Experience working with franchisees and corporate operations teams.
  • Demonstrated success leading large, geographically dispersed teams.
Work Environment and Expectations
  • Field‑based role with frequent restaurant visits across Illinois.
  • Flexible schedule, including evenings, weekends, and holidays as business needs require.
  • High level of accountability with significant influence on regional performance and brand reputation.
Education & Experience You Will Need
  • Bachelor’s degree in Business, Hospitality, or a related field, or equivalent operational leadership experience.
  • 8+ years of multi‑unit restaurant or retail operations experience, preferably in a quick‑service or franchise environment.
  • Proven success managing profit and loss across multiple locations.
  • Strong knowledge of operational systems, food safety, and regulatory compliance.
  • Exceptional leadership, coaching, and performance management skills.
  • Ability to analyze data, identify trends, and translate insights into action.
