Job SummaryAs an ICU Nurse at CHI Health, you’ll monitor patients who are critically ill and unstable following extensive injury, surgery, or life-threatening disease.
ResponsibilitiesEach shift begins with a patient report from a nursing teammate before making your rounds. You’ll continue to provide whatever care or procedures are required throughout the shift. This could mean assisting a physician with a chest tube or central line, providing wound care, transporting the patient for an MRI or CT, or administering medications. To thrive in this role, you’ll heavily depend on your ability to multitask and react.
- Assess, plan, and implement nursing care while ensuring patient comfort
- Anticipate, identify, and respond to informational and emotional needs of patients and families
- Guide and direct healthcare personnel (i.e., Patient Care Technicians) in caring for patients
- Maintain knowledge of equipment setup, maintenance, and use (i.e., IV pumps, monitoring equipment, and drainage devices), utilizing safeguards such as IV pump drug library and monitor alarms as necessary
- Initiate emergency support measures (i.e., cardiopulmonary resuscitation, protecting patient from injury)
- Assist with patient care duties/tasks (i.e., emptying drainage devices, ambulating, and hygiene)
- Current Registered Nurse (RN) license that allows you to practice in our state
- Graduate of an accredited nursing program
- Basic Life Support (BLS) through American Heart Association required
- Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS) required within 5 months of hire
- Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) required within 5 months of hire

$36.00 – $52.20 per hour
