VP Patient Care Services - Chief Nursing Officer (CNO)
Job Summary
Contributes to the fulfillment of the CHI Health mission and vision by serving as a designated administrative leader for CHI Health programs and services in the community. Responsible for planning, organizing, implementing and directing resources in assigned operational areas. Serves as a role model for ethical management behavior and promotes an awareness and understanding of positive ethical and moral principles consistent with the Mission, Vision, Pledge and Commitments of CHI Health.
Primary Responsibilities
Maintains direct responsibility for Nursing Practice on assigned campus. Works collaboratively with medical staff, ancillary services, community leaders, agencies and payors to carry out the goals for the defined service population. Builds strong relationships with physicians and employees for CHI Health to achieve, improve patient experience, physician engagement and staff engagement. Provides matrix management for all other nursing care areas located at the hospital regardless of reporting structure.
Provides consultative services and coordination to further the strategic objectives of the service lines.
- Develops, maintains, and evaluates patient/resident/client and staff data collection systems, supports the professional nurse in analysis of assessment data to determine relevant diagnoses.
- Evaluates and administers the human and fiscal resources of organized nursing services, including staffing needs and shared governance model.
- Participates in the credentialing process for advanced practice nurses.
- Manages performance including goal setting, job expectations, performance progress, feedback and skill development.
- Must work onsite and be visible to staff and patients.
Required Education
Master’s or Post Graduate Degree.
Required Licensure
Active RN licensure in the state of Nebraska, Iowa, or nurse licensure compact (license must be in state of residence).
Preferred Qualifications
Certification in Nursing Administration or area of clinical expertise is highly recommended. Strong knowledge/application of nursing practice and systems framework, strategic thinking, resource management, continuous quality improvement, team orientation, customer focus, change leadership and communication skills.

Pay Range
$72.54 – $101.55 /hour
