Unit Overview

• Department: Labor & Delivery
• Trauma Level: I
• L&D Beds: 16 labor rooms + 9 antepartum rooms
• OR Suites (C-Sections): 3 (on unit)
• Triage: 7-bed triage unit (≥20 weeks gestation)
• Postpartum Beds: 36
• Delivery Volume: Up to 400 births per month
• Patient Population: High-risk OB and routine obstetric care
• Ratios (AWHONN):
  • Labor: 1:1–2
  • Antepartum: 1:2–3

Experience Requirements

• Minimum Experience: 2 years Labor & Delivery
• Must-Have Skills:
  • OR circulation
  • Normal newborn assessments and routine newborn care
  • Ability to independently care for mother and infant
• Floating Expectations:
  • Float to Postpartum as needed
  • Occasional float to other units as a sitter

Certifications (Required)

• BLS
• NRP
• Intro to Fetal Monitoring

Charting & Monitoring

• EMR: EPIC
• EFM System: OBIX
• Tele: Used in recovery after C-section
