Job Description
American Traveler is hiring an experienced RN for a Telemetry/Med-Surg night shift position requiring a NE or compact RN license and at least two years of acute care experience.
Responsibilities- Work in a 60-bed Acute Telemetry/Med-Surg unit with patient care on 7 West, 7 East, and 5 East floors
- Mainly adult patient population with occasional pediatric cases (1-5 per year)
- Common patient diagnoses include post-surgical cases, diabetes, heart failure, hypertension, weakness, and cancer
- RN patient ratio is 5:1
- Night shifts are 12 hours (6:30 PM to 7:00 AM), including every other weekend
- Floating required to 6E, acute rehab unit, and geriatric psych unit
- Uses Epic EMR (Epic Care Inpatient - EMR 2014) and Alaris IV pumps
- Trauma Level 2 facility
- Candidates must pass a skills-based open-book exam during orientation with a minimum score of 90%
- Navy scrubs are required
- Artificial nails are prohibited for all personnel in patient care areas
- Team-oriented environment serving a culturally diverse community including African American and Korean-speaking populations
- Float assignments may include acute rehab and geriatric psych units as needed
- Active NE or compact state RN license is required at the time of consideration
- Minimum of 2 years recent acute Telemetry/Med-Surg RN experience
- Current BLS certification
- Experience using Epic EMR preferred
- Positive attitude, team player, and commitment to serving a diverse patient population
- Must provide driver's license for address verification to confirm residence outside a 50-mile radius
- Candidates cannot have been employed (full-time, part-time, or PRN) by any Common Spirit, CHI, or Dignity facility within the past year
