Job Overview

Maintains University grounds that reflect an open, welcoming impression. Mows, fertilizes, and maintains turf grass. Transplants, prunes, waters, and maintains ornamental plants, trees and shrubs. Weeds, mulches, and maintains ornamental beds. Performs litter control and general grounds maintenance. Plant installations, mulching, weeding, hauling debris in a variety of weather conditions. Mowing, snow removal, brick and road repairing.

• Knowledge of all seasonal trades, tools, and landscape maintenance.
• Ability to work well with a team and independently with minimal supervision.
• Performs landscape duties to include mow, cut, trim, water grass, trees, shrubs, and removes leaves, snow and ice.
• Performs daily trash pickup and cleaning of exterior areas including walkways and grounds. Sweeps, repairs, and otherwise maintains hardscape areas.
• Applies pesticides and fertilizers.
• Moves and operates equipment including large mowers, skid steers, brush chipper, forklifts, and sweepers.
• Has mechanical knowledge to perform general duties on engines and trade equipment.
• Exhibits the ability to execute high quality outcomes of tasks under stressful circumstances such as last‑minute deadlines or other difficult situations.
• Is available for on‑call shifts to include weekends, holidays and after hours.
• Completes other duties as assigned.

• Performs daily landscape maintenance, trash, service request and repairs to campus grounds.
• Inspects and completes preventative maintenance to landscape equipment.
• Coordinates and oversees contract work.
• Completes computer required tasks.

High school diploma or equivalent required.

1-2 Years Related experience preferred.

• Ability to lift up to 50 pounds throughout the workday.
• Ability to climb ladders and work at heights of 20 feet and above.
• Ability to bend, stretch, twist, or reach with your body, arms, and/or legs.
• Ability to perform task in various weather conditions.
• Experience operating a truck with a trailer.
• Knowledge with building walls, laying patios, rock beds and the various tools and equipment.
• Knowledge to maintain and make general repair to small engine, equipment, and vehicles.
• Must have demonstrated customer service focus and excellent attention to detail.
• Ability to accommodate night, weekend and holiday work as needed.
• Must be able to follow directives and work independently.
• Ability to spot various plant, tree and turf diseases.
• General computer and typing skills.

Requires a valid and current driver's license with a clean driving record for the last 3 years and no major violations within the last 5 years.
