Mortgage Field Services Inspector – FAR INSPECTIONS

Join FAR Inspections, a 9‑year‑old company that performs residential occupancy verifications on behalf of mortgage lenders. This is an independent contractor position offering predictable full‑time or supplemental income and a flexible schedule.

Experience with mortgage field inspections is not required, but you must manage your time effectively and meet deadlines.

What is an Occupancy Verification?

• Verify property occupancy.
• Report general condition of the property using a mobile application.

Most inspections are exterior only. About 10% require interior photos after the property has gone vacant.

• Complete most inspections in approximately 5‑6 minutes.
• Finish each inspection within 4 days after assignment.
• Report general property conditions and determine occupancy based on industry standards.
• Take 9+ photos of the property with brief comments.
• Complete a short form in the app.
• Drive extended periods during the day making multiple stops within your assigned territory.

• Computer with internet connection.
• Reliable vehicle (good gas mileage is a plus; you pay your own gas).
• Smartphone (Android or iPhone).
• Printer.
• Pass a standard background check using a valid driver's license.

This is a 1099 position. Each inspection has a flat rate. Rates vary by county and volume. Although paid per inspection, you can earn the equivalent of $30–$40 per hour.

Depending on county and whether it is urban or rural, you could complete anywhere from 20 to 500 inspections per month, working 2 to 30 hours per week. Lower volume counties have higher rates; higher volume counties have lower rates. Work is consistent month to month.

Earn more as you become established, increase your availability, or cover a larger territory.

No additional mileage reimbursement above the flat fee per inspection.
