This position is responsible for a wide variety of food and beverage purchasing and logistics services and is accountable for non-food and food ordering, inventory control and purchasing, aswell as receiving, stocking, filling kitchen requisitions, proper storage, and working with other management team members on security and smooth operations. The position also assists in everyday kitchen functions of dishwasher/utility and line cook. Join our team at The Farnam Hotel in Omaha, Ne.

$15 per hour

• Coordinates activities involved with procuring goods and services.
• Confers with vendors regarding pricing, availability, and delivery schedules.
• Selects products for purchase by testing, observing, or examining items.
• Estimates values based on market pricing knowledge.
• Prepares purchase orders or bid requests.
• Maintains procurement and inventory records.
• Addresses defective or unacceptable goods and services with vendors and quality control personnel.
• Assists kitchen management with accurate and timely ordering.
• Ensures products are received, stored, and handled in compliance with food safety guidelines.
• Monitors maintenance and sanitation of kitchen equipment and facilities.
• Assists with inventory control alongside the Executive Chef.
• Follows all hotel policies, procedures, laws, and regulations.
• Maintains regular attendance and keeps supervisors informed of significant issues.

• Basic mathematical and calculator skills.

• Prepare food items according to recipes and guest specifications.
• Monitor proper storage, rotation, and quality of food products.
• Maintain food preparation, plating, and presentation standards.
• Attend required meetings.
• Wash and restock dishes, glassware, flatware, and utensils.
• Perform general cleaning and sanitation duties.
• Store food and dry goods properly using FIFO procedures.
• Manage storage and disposal of food, trash, and cardboard.
• Keep floors dry and clean to prevent accidents.
• Perform other assigned duties.
• Project a positive image of the hotel at all times.

• Authorization to work in the United States.
• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Culinary, sales, and service background.
• Related college degree preferred.

• Ability to lift and carry up to 100 pounds on a continuous basis.
• Ability to stand and work in confined spaces for extended periods.
• Ability to work in extreme temperature ranges.
• Knowledge of cooking methods, sanitation standards, and kitchen equipment.
• Basic mathematical skills for recipes, measurements, and portioning.
• Ability to work safely around kitchen equipment and hazards.
• Ability to sit, stand, reach, lift, bend, kneel, stoop, climb, push, and pull items weighing up to 50pounds.
• Must follow all OSHA and PPE requirements
