This position supports the Store Manager in all facets of store operations, developing and promoting a sales culture through knowledge sharing and outstanding guest service experiences. It requires supervising Sales Associates and Retail Keyholders in the absence of the Store Manager.
EssentialJob Duties and Responsibilities
- Provide best‑in‑class guest service: greet guests promptly, respond to questions quickly, recommend additional items, apply all selling behaviors at every transaction, and thank guests for shopping at Game Stop.
- Support the mobile shopping environment, including visual and operational elements, current sales initiatives, and the guest relationships that lead to sales and repeat business.
- Promptly process guest purchases and returns using the POS computer system, ensure accurate change, bag merchandise, provide receipts, and maintain top‑notch service.
- Answer calls promptly with the company phone greeting, and, if needed, escalade issues to the Store Manager.
- Promote Game Stop’s benefits programs, such as new title reservations, trade‑in, and Pro Rewards.
- Assist the Store Manager in setting guest‑service expectations, training staff on policies, procedures, and guidelines.
- Provide feedback on associate performance, record it in Workday/HR systems, and ensure all associates meet company expectations.
- Ensure associates complete onboarding, job training, and compliance training before independent shifts.
- Coordinate staffing schedules, supervise staffing levels, and approve payroll, paid time off, and time edits.
- Maintain store cleanliness, organization, merchandising, and proper function of fixtures and equipment.
- Fulfill and ship Omni‑Channel orders daily.
- Protect company assets through effective inventory control, loss prevention, and daily bank deposits.
- Produce daily inventory counts, stock and restock merchandise, and alphabetize the sales floor.
- Verify daily cash totals and complete deposit slips accurately.
- Record shipment discrepancies, interact with Store Manager/District Manager as needed.
- Process defectives/recalls and stock pulls promptly and correctly.
- Maintain safety, report injuries, and keep records organized.
- Delegate tasks to Sales Associates and Retail Keyholders in the Manager’s absence.
- Consistently adhere to all Game Stop policies and procedures.
- Follow opening and closing procedures.
- Proof of identity and eligibility to legally work in the United States.
- At least 18 years old.
- High school diploma or equivalent (associate’s or bachelor’s degree in business, marketing, merchandising, or related field preferred).
- At least 6 months of retail management experience (preferred).
- At least 2 years of retail sales, guest service, and/or management experience.
- Video‑game knowledge preferred.

- Reliability and good judgment.
- Work alone, stand and move throughout the store for up to 12 h/day.
