Overview

We are currently searching for an energetic and enthusiastic part-time Security Agent who performs protective and enforcement functions in a courteous and restrained manner in coping with emergencies, undesired conduct, disturbances, and threats to life and property to maintain a safe and secure environment.

Responsibilities
  • Spend majority of shift on foot patrol, walking, climbing stairs of the interior and perimeter of the hotel to observe and identify potential security and safety risks or undesirable conditions.
  • Require verbal communication using pager and two-way radio; bend, stoop and kneel as in performing CPR.
  • Maintain order in the hotel, assist guests with door lock problems, coordinate expedient response to emergencies (e.g., fire, safety hazards, threats to life and/or property) in a calm, rational and persuasive manner; handle undesired conduct and violations of hotel policy or civil law as warranted for security and safety.
  • Assist with grasping, lifting and moving persons, packages, luggage, wheelchairs and safety equipment using manual dexterity of hands.
  • Answer security telephone and safety hotline calls and respond in a timely manner based on priority.
  • Use a clear, concise English speaking voice, listen with empathy, provide accurate information and document legibly all incident information.
  • Memorize and monitor life safety systems and building layout, including alarm pull stations, fire extinguishers and sprinklers.
  • Receive, record and store lost and found items; research and respond to guests concerns about the status of items.
  • Escort guests and employees to parking areas as required.
  • Adhere to all company policies and procedures; follow safety and security procedures and rules; know department fire prevention and emergency procedures; utilize protective equipment.
  • Report unsafe conditions, accidents, injuries, near-misses, property damage or loss to management; support a safe work environment by following all safety and security procedures and rules.
  • Maintain a neat, clean and well-groomed appearance as outlined in the team member handbook.
  • Assist other Front Desk personnel when needed; perform related duties as requested by management.
Knowledge, Skills & Abilities
  • Any combination of education and experience equivalent to graduation from high school; high school diploma preferred.
  • Prior law enforcement or military experience preferred.
  • Thorough knowledge of the building layout, function rooms, and surrounding areas.
  • Ability to interact effectively with internal and external customers with patience, tact and diplomacy.
  • Ability to listen, speak, read and write English clearly to ascertain and document information.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment, remain flexible and maintain a pleasant demeanor under pressure.
  • Ability to follow written and/or verbal instructions.
  • Ability to operate a computer, printer, copier, and telephone.
Physical Demands
  • Stand, walk or sit for the duration of the shift; observe and detect signs of emergencies.
  • Ability to climb stairs and ladders at a rapid pace.
  • Perform tasks requiring bending, stooping, kneeling, and walking significant distances between and within buildings on the property.
  • Lifting up to 25 pounds.
  • Frequent twisting, bending, stooping, reaching, standing, walking, talking, hearing, seeing and smiling.
