The Security/Custodial/Events Setup position is a hands-on, fast-paced role that plays a key part in maintaining a safe, welcoming environment while supporting successful events and rentals. This position requires flexibility and strong situational awareness.
The schedule for this position is Friday through Monday evenings. Hours are typically flexible from 1:30 PM-9:30 PM or 2:30 PM-11:00 PM. It would be 5:30 PM-2:00 AM for events.
In addition to event support and security responsibilities, custodial duties are a significant and ongoing component of this role, whether events are scheduled or not. The ideal candidate is dependable, detail-oriented, and comfortable multitasking in a dynamic public setting.
Primary Job Duties- Work collaboratively with the Security/Event Manager and Facilities Director to support daily operations.
- Assist with the setup and teardown of events, programs, and facility rentals.
- Support the coordination and on-site execution of events and rentals.
- Perform routine custodial duties and complete assigned work orders.
- Accurately document daily custodial and security rounds.
- Provide building and parking lot security, including monitoring events and conducting routine patrols.
- Respond to security incidents or breaches and promptly report and document unusual activity or safety hazards.
- Assist with parking traffic control during events and peak visitor periods.
- Lock and unlock buildings and doors before, during, and after operational hours.
- Escort staff as needed and provide transportation support in various situations.
- High school diploma or GED required.
- Valid driver's license and ability to operate organizational vehicles required.
- Previous experience in security, facilities, custodial services, event support, or related field preferred.
- Ability to work evenings, weekends, holidays, and flexible hours based on event schedules.
- Strong attention to detail with the ability to follow procedures and document activities accurately.
- Effective communication skills and the ability to interact professionally with staff, volunteers, vendors, and visitors.
- Ability to remain calm, courteous, and professional in emergency or high-pressure situations.
- Basic computer skills and completing documentation and work orders.
- Willingness to learn and follow safety, security, and custodial protocols.
- Ability to stand and walk for extended periods of time, including during events and security rounds.
- Ability to lift, carry, push, or pull up to 50 pounds as part of event setup, teardown, and custodial duties.
- Ability to bend, stoop, kneel, climb stairs, and perform repetitive physical tasks.
- Ability to work both indoors and outdoors in varying weather conditions.
- Visual and auditory ability to observe surroundings, monitor activity, and respond to safety concerns.
- Ability to perform physical tasks required for emergency response situations.
