Stephen Center, Inc invites applications for the Resident Support Specialist-Overnight F/T role, 10p-6:30am Saturday to Tuesday. Stephen Center has served homeless and low‑income individuals in Omaha since 1984 and offers safe and secure housing with dual‑diagnosis support services through the HERO addiction/recovery program.
PurposeThe Resident Support Specialist is responsible for the care and oversight of clients residing in the mental health and substance abuse program. The role ensures services for residents are consistent with regulations and established best practices and supports a positive experience for all.
Key Accountabilities- Ensure all safety and security guidelines are followed.
- Check property of new and existing clients, ensuring all items are transferred to the heat room.
- Guarantee the office is fully staffed during the night hours of operations.
- Assist clients with questions, problems, and emergency situations.
- Monitor and maintain appropriate client behavior using program rules as guidelines; initiate appropriate consequences as necessary.
- Monitor and log client’s medication, including counting medication upon arrival and observing daily intake in partnership with Case Managers.
- Inspect rooms for order and cleanliness.
- Follow up with clients violating rules in partnership with Case Managers.
- Keep hallways and rooms clean and orderly.
- Assist or direct clients in following through with chores.
- Answer clients and agency questions.
- Answer incoming calls and distribute messages for clients.
- Monitor front doors and manage guest entry as appropriate.
- Collect exit information upon departure.
- Generate incident reports as necessary.
- Clearly and accurately communicate with staff regarding client intakes.
- Enter data into the appropriate EHR system as assigned.
- Perform all other related duties as assigned.
- Minimum of high school diploma or GED.
- Work experience in human services preferred.
- Ability to communicate verbally in both directions.
- Standing, walking, kneeling, pushing/pulling, lifting up to 25 pounds - periodically.
- Conduct oneself professionally, conducive to recovery from mental illness, co‑occurring disorders, and overall wellness.
- Abide by all specific program and Agency procedures, policies, and requirements.
- Demonstrate honesty, integrity, and authenticity as a role model for clients.
- Work environment characteristics described may be met with reasonable accommodations for disabilities.
- Not exposed to weather conditions; moderate noise level.
