What does a great COBOL Software Development Engineer do?
Possesses in depth knowledge and experience with services acquiring, and payment processing solutions for small/large businesses and financial institutions. Capable of working on complex projects, including problem solving, documentation, timelines and reporting.

• Consults with project teams and functional units on the design of important projects or services.
• Supports existing business systems applications.
• Works on moderate complex projects and issues within functional area.
• Works more independently with IT functional units and business units. Recommends strategies for improving system applications.
• Manage daily support and maintenance and conduct long-term improvement operations to ensure compatibility with evolving mission requirements.
• Develop customized solutions within the platform to support critical business functions and meet project objectives, client requirements, and company goals.
• Communicate with project managers, clients, and other developers to design cohesive project strategies and ensure effective collaboration throughout all phases of development, testing and deployment.
• Maintain a flexible and proactive work environment to facilitate a quick response to changing project requirements and customer objectives and innovate ways to meet mission goals successfully.
• Lead the knowledge sharing sessions where team shares ideas and new features of the product.
• Performs code reviews for the deliverables of self and others.
• Performs code walk thru sessions to ensure defect free delivery of the code.

• 2+ yrs. of related IT experience in software development.
• Bachelor's Degree in Engineering, Technology, OR equivalent work experience.
• Expert in multiple programming languages and tools.
• Some knowledge in emerging technologies.
• Possesses strong knowledge of application development technologies, tools and methodologies. Strong understanding of complex internal business processes or functions.
• Must be expert in Mainframe technology with expertise in COBOL, JCL, VSAM and DB2.

• Experience with Credit Card processing
• Java development experience
• Assembler knowledge
