Salary
:
Part‑time position. Requires split shift; driving both shifts daily is required.
Operate school vehicles under all types of weather conditions; safely transport students and authorized persons along school routes, field trips, and special trips. Assist special‑needs students, conduct bus practices and emergency evacuations, and perform vehicle inspections, cleaning, and maintenance. Travel locally as required.
Essential Performance Responsibilities- Drive school vehicles safely and professionally.
- Operate vehicles on scheduled routes and comply with all traffic laws.
- Perform vehicle inspections, cleaning, and daily maintenance.
- Maintain control of passengers within safety parameters consistent with district policy.
- Serve as a positive role model for students and handle distractions effectively.
- Complete pre‑trip inspections and required documentation.
- Work with a diverse student population and handle various situations with tact and diplomacy.
- Minimum age 21.
- High school diploma or G.E.D.
- Valid driver’s license with at least three years driving experience and a clean driving record.
- Ability to lift up to 50 pounds on a regular basis.
- Successful completion of a pre‑employment drug test.
- Completion of the Student Transportation Bus Driver Training Program, including NE DMV CDL, school bus permit, Federal Drug and Alcohol Clearinghouse registration, and First Aid/CPR training.
- Meet OPS insurability requirements.
- Understand and comply with the practices and procedures in the Handbook for Transportation Employees.
- Rapid response in emergency situations.
- Strong organizational, time‑management, communication, and interpersonal skills.
- Work in office, school, and warehouse settings with frequent lifting and pushing.
- Ability to perform tasks that involve standing, walking, sitting, lifting, carrying, pushing, pulling, climbing, stooping, kneeling, crouching, reaching, and hand usage as described.
Terms of Employment
:
Classified part‑time non‑exempt, governed by Nebraska public school laws and OPS policies. Employment is contingent upon verification of required licenses, background check, U.S. citizenship or legal authorization, drug testing, and medical examination.
