Senior Manager, Logistics

Job Summary

Leads and manages Omaha Steaks' logistics operations, ensuring cost-effective, timely, and compliant transportation and distribution of all products—including frozen and perishable goods. This position is responsible for coordinating internal teams and external logistics providers to support company-wide fulfillment performance and customer satisfaction.

Manager‑level jobs at Omaha Steaks require a demonstrated ability to lead teams effectively, manage cross‑functional projects, and deliver results. You must provide strategic and people‑centered leadership for a department, ensuring operational excellence, team development, and accountability for key talent decisions.

• Data Analysis & Process Improvement
  • Analyzes fulfillment and logistics data, including ship mode, service levels, shipping errors, spoilage, and freight costs using TMS and DOM reports. Identifies opportunities for operational improvements and cost efficiencies to support budget planning and execution.
• Load Coordination & Execution
  • Coordinates load requirements across multiple shipping locations. Approves outbound loads, oversees their movement, and ensures timely delivery to final destinations.
• Carrier & Fulfillment Network Management
  • Recommends and implements carrier contracts. Resolves escalated service issues, allocates logistics resources across fulfillment centers, and approves budgets within defined thresholds.
• Shipping Schedule Management
  • Updates and maintains the daily shipping schedule based on current sales trends. Establishes shipping schedules and communicates them to relevant stakeholders. Coordinates dock door assignments with fulfillment center teams.
• Peak Season Planning & Oversight
  • Analyzes historical shipping data to develop peak season shipping schedules. Recommends necessary changes and supervises temporary employees during seasonal surges.
• Team Leadership & Development
  • Interviews, hires, trains, and disciplines logistics team members as needed. Conducts performance evaluations and makes salary recommendations in alignment with company policies.
• Strategic Logistics Planning
  • Develops and implements both long‑and short‑term logistics strategies aimed at improving efficiency, reducing cost, and enhancing service levels across the supply chain.
• Fleet & Local Transportation Oversight
  • Manages Omaha Steaks' local fleet of shag trucks and drivers. Oversees short‑haul movements between production facilities, central fulfillment centers, and local storage locations within the Omaha area.

• 4‑year college degree or equivalent
• Logistics or general business
• 5‑7 years logistics, supply chain management, shipping and distribution. Supervisory experience required.
• Basic mathematical computation skills.
• Ability to analyze and report on statistical data.
• Ability to plan, organize and manage work and multiple projects with frequent interruption.
• High degree of independent judgment and decision‑making skills.
