Responsibilities- Manage a remote accounting team, including scope of work, job time budgets, and job profitability as an Outsourced Franchise Client Controller
- Provide general advisory services to clients through scheduled remote meetings, focusing on interpretation and use of financial statements
- Serve as the direct point of contact and partner with clients to maintain and foster relationships within the franchise industry
- Research and share best practices relevant to each client’s business concerns
- Oversee U.S. and international client accounting teams to ensure timely and accurate deliverables
- Ensure accuracy of financial reporting for clients and internal teams
- Coordinate onboarding and integration into Wipfli’s accounting platform, including initial financial review and client meetings
- Provide technical accounting assistance to clients and internal team
- Advise clients on process improvements and internal controls within their accounting departments
- Review management reports and key performance indicators
- Prepare financial data for loan covenants, if applicable
- Mentor and train direct reports to support professional growth
- Learn and operate applicable technology, including various accounting software platforms
- Bachelor’s degree in business (with accounting courses), accounting, or finance required
- Professional certification (e.g., CPA, CMA, MBA) preferred but not required
- 5+ years of advanced, hands‑on full‑cycle accounting experience including financial statement preparation for multiple entities
- Previous experience with cost accounting, inventory valuation reporting, and financial forecasting preferred
- Experience in the franchise or retail industries preferred but not required
- Previous public accounting experience preferred (e.g., audit, outsourced accounting)
- Minimum of 2 years supervisory experience
- Ability to quickly embrace, adapt, and learn new technology
- Experience with Microsoft Business Central, Intacct and/or Net Suite preferred but not required
- Proven ability to manage relationships
- Ability to travel annually 5‑10% that includes client visits, team meetings, and conferences

Wipfli values fair, transparent, and competitive compensation. The estimated base pay range for this role is $88,000 to $160,000. The actual salary at the time of offer depends on business-related factors such as location, skills, experience, training/education, licensure, certifications, business needs, current associate pay, and relevant employment laws. Individuals may be eligible for an annual discretionary bonus, subject to participation rules and based on a variety of factors including, but not limited to, individual and firm performance.
