Position Summary
We are seeking a dynamic and experienced Outsourced Accounting Senior Associate to lead a team of accounting professionals in delivering high-quality, controller-level services to a diverse portfolio of clients. The ideal candidate is a proactive problem-solver with a passion for leveraging technology to streamline processes and provide clients with insightful financial guidance. You will act as a trusted advisor to your clients and a dedicated mentor to your team, playing a critical role in the growth and success of our CAAS practice.
Key Responsibilities
Client Service & Relationship Management:
- Serve as the primary point of contact and trusted advisor for a portfolio of diverse clients, building and maintaining strong, long-lasting relationships.
- Manage the successful onboarding of new clients, including systems setup, process documentation, and establishment of key performance indicators (KPIs).
- Oversee the delivery of comprehensive accounting services, including financial statement preparation, month-end and year-end close, accounts payable, accounts receivable, payroll, and cash flow management.
- Provide high-level financial analysis, presenting monthly financial packages to client leadership with clear, actionable insights and strategic recommendations.
- Proactively identify client needs and opportunities to expand services, collaborating with tax, audit, and other firm departments.
- Supervise, train, and mentor a team of CAAS staff and senior accountants, fostering a positive and collaborative team environment.
- Manage team workflow, assign client engagements, and ensure deadlines are met with a high standard of quality.
- Review the work of team members, including journal entries, account reconciliations, and financial statements, providing constructive feedback to ensure accuracy and professional development.
- Conduct regular performance evaluations and support the career growth of your team members.
Technical & Operational Excellence:
- Oversee the full-cycle monthly accounting close process for multiple clients, ensuring timeliness and compliance with Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP).
- Develop, implement, and document best-practice accounting policies and procedures for clients and internal teams.
- Identify opportunities for process improvement and automation, both for clients and for the firm's internal CAAS operations.
Qualifications & Skills
Required:
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.
- 4−7+ years of progressive accounting experience, with a combination of public accounting and/or private industry experience.
- Strong technical knowledge of U.S. GAAP.
- Proficiency with cloud-based accounting software, particularly Quick Books Online (QBO Certified Pro Advisor is a plus).
- Excellent communication (written and verbal) and interpersonal skills, with the ability to present complex financial information clearly to non-financial stakeholders.
- Proven ability to manage multiple projects and clients simultaneously in a fast-paced environment.
Preferred:
- CPA license is highly preferred.
- Direct experience working within an outsourced accounting / client accounting services (CAS) practice in a public accounting firm.
- Experience with a variety of accounting and ERP systems (e.g., Net Suite, Sage Intacct) and third-party integration apps (e.g., , Expensify, Gusto, Ramp).
- Experience serving clients in specific industries such as [List 2-3 relevant industries, e.g., SaaS, Professional Services, Non-Profit, Real Estate].
